Lindis Pass is located in northern Otago on New Zealand’s South Island, between Cromwell to the south and Omarama to the north. State Highway 8 takes you via Lindis Pass, linking the Mackenzie Basin with Central Otago. It is, like a few other special places in New Zealand, an incredibly scenic drive; no signs of civilisation, but mountains and tussock grasslands as far as the eye can see. And a few shrubs, here and there.
The Lindis Pass route is a great one to drive and one you’ll take on your way from Lake Tekapo or Omarama to Wanaka. Allow for a little extra time as you’ll be stopping a lot along the way to take pictures and take in the amazing views.
